Do you know what a Jubilee is? These are long cycles of 100, 50, or 25 years, after which everything is reset. For instance, in the ancient Jewish tradition, after a cycle of 50 years all wealth and land were redistributed equally within the community. They are cycles, period where we choose to end a cycle of recognize a cycle that naturally exists.
The year 2025 is a Jubilee year for the Catholic Church — the last one was 2000. It is also the 100th anniversary of the death of Rudolf Steiner (the founder of Anthroposophy), who once said his message would only be understood 100 years later: and it is starting to show.
These cycles of integration carry deep and inspiring meaning.
I can clearly relate this to my own life. I started Picinguaba in the year 2000, when at the age of 30 — the biblical age of maturity, when Jesus begins his mission and David becomes king — I left a successful international executive career at Enron to embrace my dream of living in nature with local people.
Now, in 2025, another great turning point is opening for me: a new and fascinating field of possibilities.
And I believe this is true for many others as well. It is up to you to see it. We do not have to define ourselves by our past, we can open a new window.
The Jubilee tradition gives us this message: we can periodically reinvent our lives, stepping into a new phase of what we most deeply want. We can re-create ourselves — not out of dissatisfaction or despair, but by honoring the past and moving toward a future more attuned to the times and to our age, drawing on all the learning and experience we have gathered along the way.
Steiner speaks of the seven-year cycles: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, and so on.
Each of these ages corresponds to a very specific new personality, guided by our own nature.
For instance, when you turn 50, as I have, a new cycle of teaching, transmission, and contribution to the collective begins to unfold. The game has changed.
Professionally and personally, the Jubilee calls all of us in 2025 to take this step: to become a higher version of ourselves. This can be our personal answer to the chaos in the world: to change our own destiny, to embrace a renewed phase of inner and outer abundance.
And what better places than Picinguaba and Catuçaba to reflect on this? Over the years, many people have made life-changing decisions after long, joyful stays — with family or alone — in these magically inspiring places. Why not you?
